Community and Family Connections

At Boys’ Latin we recognize that student learning happens best when there is a partnership between educators, students, and parents.  We strive to ensure that each member of the alliance composing our school community has a voice in how we evolve as an organization; we strive to maintain a culture where diversity – of people, opinion, and perspective – is valued and recognized for its ability to make us stronger; and we strive to understand and support each student along his unique developmental path. The partnership between parents, teachers, and students at our school is the foundation that can enable each of our young men to be the architect of his own fortune.

Fall 2011 Initiatives:

Blazer for My Brother Program

The Boys Latin of Philadelphia Charter School’s Extended Family Network (EFN) Leadership Team would like to inform everyone of our first ever need-based program for our young men.

The Blazer for My Brother program offers assistance to gentlemen in our school and their families who may not be able to secure their blazers because of financial hardships during the fall/winter months of the school year. This year the fall/winter required uniform date falls on Monday, October 3rd 2011.

We recognize that some of our upperclassmen have grown not only in knowledge, but in size; therefore the EFN Leadership Team is asking for your assistance in helping us to secure gently used blazers from previous students and/or upperclassmen who have outgrown their blazers from previous years.

The drive to collect these gently used Blazers for students will begin on Friday, September 30th.  If you would like to donate a gently used blazer, please send it to the school with your young man and drop it off with Dr. Tennant.

If your young man is in need of a blazer, please notify the school office with their name, grade and size, and we will try to accommodate him.

This program in no way takes the place of the responsibility of the parent to adhere to the uniform policy agreed to upon initial acceptance into Boys' Latin.
