TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS: Does your son have a teacher who has had a powerful impact on him? Do you know a teacher who has gone above and beyond in supporting your son’s growth at Boys’ Latin? If so, the Extended Family Network wants to know about it. The Extended Family Network would like to honor a Teacher of the Year for the 2011-2012 school year. Parents or students are asked to complete the attached nomination form to nominate a teacher who has had a positive influence. Nominations are due on February 13, 2012 to Dr. Tennant at ntennant@boyslatin.org or 5501 Cedar Avenue.
ARCADE NIGHT: All Boys' Latin students are invited to join us on Saturday, January 21 from 5pm to 8pm for Arcade Night. Come play Wii and X-Box on the big screens in our Dining Hall. At Boys' Latin we believe it is important to learn together and laugh together. This is a free event open only to Boys’ Latin students. There will be snacks available. Students are not required to wear their uniforms. Over 10 different gaming systems will be available for play. Students are encouraged to come join the fun!
FAFSA WORK SESSION: Parents and guardians of seniors are invited to the Boys’ Latin Technology Lab (room 105) on Monday, January 23 at 7:00 pm. During this working meeting, parents will access the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application form and complete the FAFSA while our Director of College Advising, Mrs. Bonner, oversees progress, answers questions, and provides guidance.
FINANCIAL AID INFO SESSION: Any senior parent who was unable to attend the college financial aid information session on December 8th is invited to attend a make-up session with Mrs. Bonner on Saturday, January 21st at 10:00am. At this meeting, Mrs. Bonner will be covering the same information that was presented at the December meeting. If you plan to attend the meeting on the 21st, please RSVP to Mrs. Bonner at hbonner@boyslatin.org.
MUSIC SHOWCASE AND REVIEW: Don’t miss the 2012 Boys’ Latin Music Showcase and Review on Friday, January 27 at 7:00 pm. The Music Showcase and Review will feature vocal music, instrumental music, and stepping. Don’t miss the talented students of Boys’ Latin!
PROGRESS REPORT NIGHT: Progress Report Night will be held on Wednesday, February 1 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Parents will receive additional information on Progress Report Night as well as a copy of the student progress reports in the mail in late January. Progress Report Night is mandatory for the parents of students who are failing two or more classes. As always, if you ever have any questions about your son’s progress, please contact his teacher and check PowerSchool regularly.
WARRIOR TRACK AND FIELD: The Warriors indoor track and field team competed well in their second match of the season. Highlights included Oumar Diawara running a 2 minute 10 second 800 meters – setting a new Boys’ Latin school record. Congratulations!
