The English Department supports students in developing an understanding of their values and their society, so that they can discover how to situate themselves in our dynamic and increasingly complex modern world.

To facilitate this exploration, courses center on careful examination of literature. The department recognizes that a student must master a variety of language skills, including the ability to read critically, to interpret logically, and to communicate effectively in both written and oral expression. Throughout their career at Boys’ Latin, students will learn how to communicate through various forms of written and oral language and read works representing diverse voices and experiences.
